Today’s Lesson: Alex, Drugs and Rock and Roll.
Sometimes on random outings the most unexpected things happen, like Alex, drugs and Rock ‘n Roll.
Thanks to Rush our director of “getting shit crackin” we had the plug with Pete Rock.
Upon entering the Peter Rockwell show we had to travel 3 streets of piss stained sidewalk. 6th and market is lovely this time of year. Crack heads, hookers, and your neighborhood stick up kid insure that you will have and interesting night.
Inside the infamous club 6, Tony Styles was taking out entire crews. Props to Tony!
After club 6 a lighting round of clowning ensued. Apparently Rush is a descendant of Tevin Campbell
Then the premium german car distruction derby of san francisco ensued.
Rush and I were really drunk and felt like being nosey. We went up to the car that had a gaping hole in it and realized that there was a boat load of “A-1 yola” everywhere. Being that neither of us mess with drugs we were reluctant to except the kind gift of cocaine, but knowing that the cops were going to smash these guys heads in once they saw what they had, we decide to be nice Samaritans.
All i have to say is that after leaving the scene we made a crack heads Christmas wishes come true!!!
Who ever u are Mr. Crack head, i hope u enjoy your years supply of “Pepsi”.

I agree with you Rush we are good Samaritans.
happy rememberance of all native americans that got hustled in the name of manifest destiny!

Today’s Lesson: Deja Vu to 1999.
Do you recognize this guy as a kid in San Francisco?
Do you recognize this guy as a kid in San Francisco?
Stevie Williams and Karl Watson way back.
I meet Mos 5 years ago when i saved his in-store show on accident. He came to preform at “Amoeba” with out the instrumentals.
He got on stage and said “folks i’m sorry were gonna have to cancel the show unless someone has an instrumental. Luckily i had it on me.
The MIGHTY MOSDEF. Has a mighty good memory.
Today’s Lesson: The Day the Clock started Ticking…
So, i decided to give you folks a little incite on the history of HomeRoom. let’s take a trip down memory lane and join me as i tell u how mr. alval and i met and decided to run shit with HRC…
this story is exclusively for this site, so you should feel damn lucky to hear/read it first!
***note that this post came from CtotheJL, but by popular demand by some DUDE - i am forced to post it here… hahahaha!

i met alval by way of chance… i think one of the first times i saw him was at some party at poleng lounge (then the social club) and he commented on my kicks - prolly wearing some crazy pumas… turned out he knew my best friend eric from ELEMNOP.
anywho, a few weeks after that, i went to the haight/ashbury street fair with the homies and bumped into alval AGAIN. he again gave me props on my kicks (michigan dunks - HOW do i remember this shit? c’mon! any sneaker head can remember ANYTHING related to a certain topic when they ask themselves, “wait, what kicks was i wearing that day?” — or is that just me?!).
this is how i came to remember al: his sneaker comments and his dope ass hoodie (21 jump street one of a kind HomeRoom first and only).
some shots of why he would comment on my kicks perhaps???

(don’t THINK of biting my colorways son!)
the next week i went to a Huf/BBS/MAMA party at milk. we were then formally introduced to each other. we chopped it up for a minute and then he introduced me to gabriella from MAMA and that’s how i got my internship - THANKS AL!!!
yes, I look SUPER moded in this picture, i know. thanks.
here’s us packaging some CREAM tee’s and other stuff to send out to stores…
ok, fast-forward a few days… we ended up hanging out one day to just enjoy the weather… weather that was TOTALLY unexpected bc i remember i was wearing a damn beenie and i was hot like a mo’fo.
AL took me to a spot in chinatown where i got a good deal on some old school reebok pumps - OG status. too bad i don’t have any pics, they’re on my old comp in SF (WAIT I JUST GOT IT!!!)
… - by pure coincidence we both had the same camera - exilims…
we pretty much caused havoc around chinatown, north beach, stopped by Recon and HUF, and drove through millionare’s road - where we ran into mr. roboto - packing heat!

the day was coming to an end, and i was going to go home, but then alval wanted me to come with him to drop off some fivefour gear for some rap group at a hotel in the city - so i came along…
we got there and alval was doing his thing, politickin with the Wolf Pack and the stylist blah blah, and i was just minding my own - pretending to look busy distributing the clothes…
thanks to alval, somehow, all eyes turned to me and TADA! i was asked to be apart of the VAN’s music video.
two days later, alval and i went to the video shoot and the rest is history… check out the shots… hung out with good fam: Kent (owner FTC), Brad Johnson (FTC), Karl Watson (LRG), Malcolm Jones (Director), the Pack, Silke, Cheeko, Young Uno (with my Girl board - hollerrrr), Jeff Sledge (Jive Records) and many more!!! all good fun!

no wait! DUH! we started to get more serious about the line as ppl around us became more interested in al’s vision. he then expressed to me that he wanted to start working on female gear, and that’s where i entered the picture.
that’s pretty much it, ever since then, we’ve been working our asses off to create a line not only for people to enjoy physically, but also to allow people to absorb their lifestyle and express openly. we understood that street culture was not just about your sneakers, fitted hats, nor the tee’s you wore that day, or the next - lifestyle is about everything that surrounds you: culture, music, taste, sound, smell, and the people you run into everyday.
i could go on about how we think and this “sub-culture,” but it would definitely turn into a much longer read, and this is just not the time to do that! hahaha!
so this is HomeRoom - Gian (Art Director), Yoshi (Women’s and stuff), Alval (Founder, Production Director, and everything else!)…
…next time, i’ll introduce you to Gian hehehehe
Today’s Lesson: I love Denim. Self Edge California’s most premium Denim store is having a grand opening party on Saturday. Self edge has been getting a lot of press.
There are also apparently many denim companies seeking to do collaborative designs with Self Edge.

Today’s Lesson: Blogger’s Delight
So recently I was asked to become a guest blogger for CtotheJL’s site.

If you guys have time, go ahead and peep it out. Chris definitely knows his shit!
I’ll be posting some things about the life of HomeRoom, my life, the hectic life of Alval, and the mysterious life of Gian… unbeknownst to them of course… ooooooh lurker status - watch out guys!!!
BY THE WAY: IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!!
